IGC sees bigger wheat crop in 2013/14
BASED on the progress of winter wheat crops, the International Grains Council (IGC) expects global wheat production next season to increase by 4% year-on-year, the organisation said in its first estimate of the 2013/14 crop year.
At its recent meeting in London, the IGC secretariat pointed out that the supply and demand balance for wheat had tightened significantly in 2012/13, adding that near-record production would be required in 2013/14 to maintain the global stocks-to-use ratio.
