Net foreign direct investment inflows to Ukraine up 4.9 percent in 2010
The net increase in foreign direct investment (FDI) in Ukraine in 2010 totaled $4.655 billion, which was 4.9 percent more than the figure for 2009, the State Statistics Committee reported on Thursday.
According to the committee, foreign investors invested $5.986 billion in direct investment in the Ukrainian economy in 2010 (6.2 percent more than the figure for 2009), but also withdrew $810 million (13.9 percent less).
Given the data for the first, second and third quarters of 2010, when the net inflows of investments amounted to $98.3 million, $397.5 million and $2.051 billion respectively, in the fourth quarter FDI rose by $2.108 billion, which was 43.7 percent more than in the fourth quarter of 2009.
The total volume of FDI in Ukraine as of January 1, 2011 reached $44.708 billion, which was 11.6 percent more than on January 1, 2010. Per capita FDI amounted to $978.50, the committee said.
