EU is ready to provide EUR 0.5 Bl worth of macro-economic aid to Ukraine
The EU is ready to provide EUR 0.5 Bl worth of macro-economic aid to Ukraine once the country meets IMF terms. According to ITAR-TASS, European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso stated this today after his meeting with Ukraine’s President Viktor Yanukovych.
“The restoration of relations with IMF is of priority importance for Ukraine. EU will be able to grant 500 million euros of macroeconomic aid to Ukraine after it fulfills the terms set by IMF. This will ensure the restoration of the confidence of foreign investors in Ukraine,” he stressed.
Mr. Barroso called on Ukrainian politicians to ensure national stability. "Political stability and unity of Ukraine are the main conditions for the solution of its social and economic problems," he said.
In turn, V.Yanukovych emphasized that “everything will depend on Ukrainian politicians.” “Ukraine has started down a difficult road and everything will now depend on Ukrainian politicians themselves, whether they will be able to work for the country’s unity,” he pointed out.
