The Irish Farmers Association says grain farmers could lose their entire harvest this week unless weather conditions improve.
The IFA says the weather has delayed the harvesting of more than two million tonnes of crops that would usually be cut by the middle of August.
It says some of this year's crops have already been wiped out by torrential rain and the rest might not be salvaged unless the harvest begins by the end of this week.
