During the session at the Ministry of Agriculture, minister Akylber Kurishbayev informed that as of August 10th the volume of wheat in Kazakhstan has reached 2mln tons, Kazinform reports. According to the minister, about 1 mln hectars of wheat fields, or 10% of the overall area, has been harvested. More than 1 mln tons of wheat has been milled. According to the data of regional akimats, gross wheat harvest will amount to about 17 mln tons. Annual consumption demand for wheat is about 3.4 mln tons. In order to maintain the supply of this volume, memorandums about supply of wheat and flour were signed between regions that are short in wheat supply and Northern regions as well as Wheat Union of Kazakhstan. For renewal of the state reserve, procurement of 400,000 tons of wheat will take place and stabilization reserves of 600,000 tons of wheat will be created. “For realization of these reserves, in the upcoming days, the Ministry will establish quotas for sale of wheat to the “Product Corporation” by the main wheat harvesting regions”, - said A. Kurishbayev.
