The Russian Ministry of Agriculture said Nov. 19 that for MY2008-09, the country already had exported 9.08 million tonnes of grain, including 8.1 million tonnes of wheat, 979,000 tonnes of barley and 7,000 tonnes of rye.
In the month of October, Russia’s exports totaled 2.44 million tonnes of grain, including 2.19 million tonnes of wheat, 2,000 tonnes of rye and 249,000 tonnes of barley.
From Nov. 1-11, Russia exported 413,000 tonnes of grain, including 369,000 tonnes of wheat and 44,000 tonnes of barley. In addition, they harvested 6.8 million tonnes of sunflower.
At the beginning of November, Russia’s grain harvest totaled 112.5 million tonnes. The country’s grain farmers had harvested throughout 95% of planted areas, including 76% of maize (corn) for grain.
Russian farmers also had harvested sunflower throughout 90% of planted areas, which was at about the same level of the previous year, said the Federal Service of State Statistics of Russia.
This year Russia increased its grain crop by 30.6% compared to the previous year’s level. Its sunflower crop grew by 27% over the previous year.
