According to data of Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat), the value of agricultural products in current prices of all agricultural producers (agricultural organizations, peasant farms (farms), farm population) totaled to 369.6 billion rubles in October 2008 and to 2414.4 billion rubles in January - October 2008.

 

As of the end of October 2008, cattle livestock in farms of all agricultural producers totaled to 22 million heads (down 1.3% to compare with the corresponding date of the previous year), where cow stock amounted to 9.3 million heads (down 0.9%). Pig numbers totaled to 17.6 million (up 0.8%), sheep and goat herd grew by 4.9% up to 22.8 million heads.

 

In the structure of livestock, agricultural farms of the population represented 48.7% of cattle livestock, 41.7% of pigs, and 52% of sheep and goats (as of the end of October 2007 - 48%, 43.1% and 53.2% respectively).

 

Pursuant the estimations, slaughter cattle and poultry production totaled to 6.8 million tons, milk production output was 28.5 million tons, and egg production amounted to 31.8 billion pcs in farms of all grades in January - October 2008.

 

As of early November of the current year, cattle provision with feed was up 1.5% as per livestock unit in agricultural organizations in comparison with the corresponding date of the last year.
