African Swine Fewer May Come to Russia   Print  E-mail
There is a temporary ban on imports of products of animal origin in some Russian regions. The ban imposing was caused by insecure epizootic situation in states contiguous with Russia (Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia).

Officials of Federal Agency for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision (Rosselkhoznadzor) for Tyumen Region inspect cargo and things which pass across the border.

As Veterinary service of Kursk Region reports, this year some cases of African swine fewer have been already registered in Russia.

There is a danger of the disease spread in Kursk Region as well. There is no vaccine against this disease yet. It is very difficult to detect it as it has similar symptoms with some other diseases like salmonellosis. A precise diagnosis can be made only by way of laboratory researching.

To prevent the disease spreading pig breeding enterprises should work in a special closed regime.
