Azarov thanks Ukrainian agricultural producers for good yield

Prime Minister Mykola Azarov thanked Ukrainian agricultural producers for good work and congratulated with a good yield reaching over 30 million tons of grain.

He has said about this at the Cabinet's meeting on Wednesday, the government portal informs.

“I sincerely congratulate grain growers of Odesa, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia regions, in each of them by over 2 million tons of grain were harvested. As well as agricultural producers of Mykolaiv, Donetsk, Vinnytsia, Kirovohrad and Poltava regions, where by over 1.5 million tons of grain were gathered, also agricultural producers of Cherkasy, Kherson, Khmelnytsky, Sumy and Kyiv regions, where by more than 1 million tons of grain was thrashed,” Azarov said.

According to him, already over 30 million tons of grain have been gathered. In particular, wheat was thrashed to the amount of almost 22 million tons, barley - over 7 million tons, rye - more than 600,000 tons. On the whole, production of grain is expected after processing to the volume of 57 million tons, which is 11 million up against the previous year. At the same time, at least 75% of grain will be bread grain, the Prime Minister stressed.

At the same time, he emphasized that this year harvesting passed rhythmically, it was fully provided with machinery and the necessary materials.

“It became a thing of the past, when harvesting turned into “the fight for the yield,” headquarters had been created in order to save the situation, and the government took urgent measures to provide with fuel or technology. Instead, over recent years, we have created a system, which operates without manual control and the Agricultural Policy and Food Ministry provides all seasonal works in agriculture with market mechanisms in advance,” Azarov noted.
