France "will maintain GM corn ban" agra-net


French President François Hollande has vowed to maintain a ban on the cultivation of Monsanto's genetically modified (GM) MON810 corn, despite the highest court in the country overturning the moratorium.

The Conseil d'Etat ruled last Thursday (August 1) that the ban is illegal under EU law but Hollande told farmers in the southwest of the country late last week that the ruling will be reviewed at both national and European level. "The moratorium will be prolonged," Hollande said
