Rospotrebnadzor sees theme for negotiations with Ukraine

06.08.2013

Rospotrebnadzor considers possibility of a meeting with the Ukrainian side on supply of Roshen products to Russia.

The Rospotrebnadzor website reads about this.

“Currently, in the established order, possibility is being considered of a meeting with competent bodies of Ukraine on the issues of observation of Russian legislation requirements as regards the quality and security of foodstuffs in supply of confectionary to the Russian Federation, produced by factories of the confectionary corporation Roshen,” a statement reads.

“Primarily, the attention is drawn to non-fulfillment by the Ukrainian side of agreements on harmonization of national control systems over the quality and security of foodstuffs, reached in 2012 on the emergency of identical problems on other segments of foodstuffs,” Rospotrebnadzor noted.

According to the agency, over 90% of examined samples of confectionary produced by the Roshen Company did not meet the norms. The main reason of non-compliance is non-fulfillment of legislation in the sphere of consumers' rights protection (requirements to marking of foodstuffs - non-compliance of information about nutritional qualities of products, pointed out on the label).

As reported by Ukrinform, the Economic Development and Trade Ministry of Ukraine stated that its delegation is ready to leave at any time for conducting negotiations with the Russian side on removal of a ban for supply of Ukrainian confectionary to the Russian Federation. Belarus informed that it finds no grounds for a ban on imports of Ukrainian confectionary.
