Rostov region, Baltika may set up beer cluster


Rostov region and the Baltika brewery may set up a beer cluster in the region, Rostov Governor Vasily Golubev told.

"This agreement envisages our further cooperation, the possibility of continuing to work to create a cluster, which will mean attracting our agriculture producers that grow barley for beer making," he said.

Baltika President Isaak Sheps said a beer cluster in the region would be beneficial for the company and Baltika is willing to buy its barley and packaging from local producers.

Baltika owns 10 breweries in Russia, including in Rostov region, and one in Azerbaijan. It sells its beer to 75 countries and accounts for 70% of all Russian beer exports. Baltika is owned by Carlsberg Group.
