Ukraine and the World Bank identified the issues of further cooperation in the agricultural sector

Ukraine and the World Bank have agreed to cooperate in the development of the law on foreign investments protection. The Bank will continue to cooperate in preparation of land reform in Ukraine, as well as facilitate the implementation of complete soil fertility analysis. In addition, the World Bank intends to promote restoration of irrigation in southern Ukraine and the development of grain logistics. This was discussed today at the meeting of the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food, Mykola Prysyazhnyuk and the World Bank’s Sector Manager in Agricultural Development, Dina Umali-Deininger.

"Relations of Ukraine and the World Bank have a positive impact on the development of domestic agricultural sector. Therefore, the issues considered today will help to strengthen the dynamics of its development ", - said Mykola Prysyazhnyuk opening the meeting.

The Minister suggested the Bank to contribute to the development of the law on foreign investments protection. Also the Head of the department offered to strengthen cooperation in preparation of land reform. In turn, the representatives of the World Bank agreed to establish cooperation in these areas.

Moreover, the World Bank’s Sector Manager in Agricultural Development, Dina Umali-Deininger stressed that cooperation with Ukraine is very important for the Bank. She also offered to involve the Bank's efforts to the detailed fertility and quality analysis of Ukrainian soil.

In addition, the participants confirmed that great attention will be paid to cooperation between Ukraine and the World Bank in restoring irrigation in southern Ukraine and the development of grain logistics. The parties expressed mutual interest in cooperation on the outlined issues and agreed to support further the work in these areas.
