Ukraine. This year milk production will grow by 2.4%

Milk production continues to increase in Ukraine. Thus, according to preliminary estimates by the end of the year it will grow by 2.4%. This will allow increasing exports by 5% and reduce imports to a record 22%. Therefore, to continue the same positive trend the government will provide further aid to dairy producers. That was informed today by the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food, Mykola Prysyazhnyuk.

"Since the beginning of the year there remains in Ukraine launched in 2012 trend of milk production growth. Thus, over the six months it was 5.5 million tons, which is 1% more than the same period last year. In particular, the largest productions increase was of dairy products - by 11.4%, and cheese - by 6.8%. The Ministry of Agrarian Policy predicts that the same dynamic will continue until the end of the year ", - said Mykola Prysyazhnyuk.

Thus, by the end of this year milk production by all categories of farms will grow by 2.4% and will reach 11.6 million tons. This will increase exports and reduce the supply of imported milk. "It is expected that by the end of the year there will be exported abroad up to 1 million tons of milk, which is 5% more than in 2012. Also the imports will significantly reduce- by 22% to 0.3 million tons. These predictions give us confidence that government programs of industry support have to continue, "- said the Head of department.

Also Mykola Prysyazhnyuk noted that with the growth of production domestic consumption will also increase. Thus, the average annual consumption of milk and dairy products by population is estimated at the level of 217 kg per capita, which is 2.6 kg more than in 2012.
