Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan combined met 27% of global demand for wheat in MY 2016/17.  In the 2017/18 marketing year, the Black Sea region’s share in global wheat trade will reach some one-third (60 MMT or 33%). Every day, the region enhances its role in global pricing. The drivers will include much more optimistic condition of winter crops than in other wheat growing regions. Competition intensifies between Black Sea countries for new end markets. In 2018, this will be most visible on far export destinations.
