2016/17 season results: Ukraine continues expanding milling wheat exports


This past season was one of the most interesting seasons for Ukraine. The key noteworthy points include record exports both of wheat and flour, an upsurge of wheat supplies to India, record-low domestic use for food purposes and hitting a price bottom after a multi-year downturn.

Having harvested the second largest wheat crop in the entire history of observations, Ukraine closed the 2016/17 season with record exports. It should be noted that export volumes have been steadily trending upwards for several seasons now. Although, feed wheat dominates both the crop and exports, milling wheat exports also grow in quantitative terms.
