2017/18 season: Wheat exports from Russia up 41%

In July-May 2017/18, wheat exports from Russia totaled roughly 38 MMT. This is already 41% more than in the whole of MY 2016/17, when some 27 MMT was shipped abroad, reports UkrAgroConsult.

According to preliminary data, Russia exported 3.9 MMT of wheat in May 2018 that is 19.3% more than in the previous month and up 103% from May 2017.

Some changes in the range of key export destinations for Russian wheat have happened this season. Vietnam recorded the greatest gain at the time. The country imported 1.96 MMT of wheat in July-May 2017/18 against 124.3 KMT in the whole of MY 2016/17. As a reminder, Russia has outstripped this season such major traditional suppliers to the Vietnamese market as the EU, Australia and Argentina.

However, owing to this season’s record exports, supplies to most importers of Russian wheat generally followed an upward trend.
