Ameropa expands grain storage capacity in Romania with two horizontal silos

Commodities trader Ameropa Grains, controlled by Swiss investor Andreas Zivy, has purchased two horizontal grain silos in Romania – at Dor Marunt (Calarasi) and Macin (Tulcea). The company has not commented on the details of the deal, but the daily estimates the cumulated capacity of the two silos at 20,000 tonnes.

Ameropa thus extends the storage network in Romania to 13 units – including vertical and horizontal silos. The first 11 units were located in Constanta county – a region close to Black Sea port Constanta that also produces large amounts of grains particularly sunflower. The storage capacity operated by Ameropa in Constanta county is 544,000 tonnes – which amounts to 3% of the national grain storage capacity.

Ameropa Grains report annual turnovers of around €400mn on the Romanian market. Ameropa group also holds in Romania fertilizers producer Azomures.
