Arab world prefer Ukrainian barley


Ukraine’s 2016 barley harvest was the richest in seven years at 9.5 MMT. UkrAgroConsult forecasts 2016/17 export potential of Ukrainian barley at some 5.3 MMT, or up 20% from a year ago.

According to UkrAgroConsult estimates, in the first half of MY 2016/17 Ukraine exported by 7% more compared to the same period in MY 2015/16. So, Ukrainian exporters realized nearly 80% of the country’s barley export potential in the first half of the season.

The main feature of this period of the season was a substantial build-up of barley supplies to Arab world, Marina Sych, grain market analyst of UkrAgroConsult notes.
