Association is pessimistic about soybean crop in Mato Grosso, Brazil

Endrigo Dalcin, the president of the Association of Soybean Growers of Mato Grosso, said that the profitability during the 2016/2017 crop will be very hard to pursuit. He is pessimistic about the grain markets and also about the fluctuation of the Real’s value.

“If the economy gets too much confidence, as it seems to be, the dollar will get weaker and the market will be worse for us. The prices were good for those who sold about 40 days ago. Today the soybean value worths nearly the production cost. It is hard to know about the real future profitability. Argentina can get a good crop and the United States too along with Brazil, there can be an oversupply of soybeans in the world. And this is a very troublesome situation,” he told reporters at Expointer, the major farm show held in Rio Grande do Sul, southern Brazil.
