ASTARTA close to complete its sugar beet and sunflower sowing campaign


To date, almost 60% out of planned 47 thousand hectares have been sown with sugar beet and 30% out of 32 thousand hectares – with sunflower. The Company plans to complete sowing of these crops in a few days and begin corn and soy sowing campaign.

By the beginning of the spring sowing campaign, ASTARTA has completed its 2-year investment program in agricultural machinery and purchased precision seeders for corn, soy and sugar beet, which will improve the sowing quality.

Moreover, this season ASTARTA for the first time widely uses the technology of starting application of phosphate-nitrogen fertilizers along with seeds (POP-up method). According to this technology, appropriate applicators for microgranulated fertilizers were installed on the seed drills. The last year experience demonstrated that this approach ensures the active development of seedlings even if the temperature is falling.

«Investments in fixed assets and new technologies allow us to carry out the sowing campaign more effectively and faster than before. This means rational use of resources, early rooting and steady growth of plants and, as a result, a greater yields», – notes the Chief Operating Officer of ASTARTA Zeljko Erceg.
