Australia to record increases in beef, cattle exports to Asia

Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics predicted that the country’s beef cattle industry will see some exciting statistics this year with good prices. The organisation suggests that beef exports to China will increase by 15% to 120,000 tonnes and overall beef and veal production will rise by 12%. Live cattle exports of feeder cattle are tipped to gain an extra 7% bringing that figure to 875,000 heads.

This extra demand will mainly come from Indonesia and Vietnam as these countries are experiencing rising incomes, population growth and greater urbanisation. Competition will be from South American countries and buffalo meat out of India.
