Baltic Dry Index gained 6% last week

Last week, Baltic Dry Index gained 120 points or 6.17%, and reached 1445 points. Baltic Freight Index turned upwards due to the bullish trend in large-capacity Capesize sector and an additional driver from Supramax sector, reports UkrAgroConsult.

The increase in trading activity was seen on key Asian routes, which should influence the growth of freight rates in the region against the backdrop of ship delays due to unfavorable weather in China. This situation allows making an optimistic forecast for Baltic Freight Index for the next months until the celebration of Chinese New Year.

The Panamax transportation market in the Atlantic region looked unclear. In the southern part high demand for grain supply persisted, while the northern part of the market remained passive.
