Barley exports from Kazakhstan down 23%


Barley exports from Kazakhstan continued falling in April 2017. So, barley shipments to foreign markets totaled 28.8 KMT in the month under review, or almost 40% less than exported in the previous month (47.9 KMT in March), but almost four times as much as in the same period last year, reports UkrAgroConsult.

In total Kazakh exporters shipped abroad 604.2 KMT of barley in the eight months of the current season (September 2016 - April 2017), or down 26% year-on-year (785.4 KMT was exported in September-April 2015/16).

Iran remains the key end market for Kazakh barley, absorbing 89% of its exports.

Despite the overall drop in shipments, deliveries to the market of Uzbekistan continue growing. Kazakhstan exported 32.3 KMT of barley to Uzbekistan in the period under review, or 48% more than for the whole last season.
