Barley exports from Kazakhstan down 23% from last year

Kazakh barley exports somewhat intensified in November-December 2016. 154.6 KMT was shipped for export in December 2016 against 151.2 KMT in December 2015. However, this is not enough to catch up with last season’s exports, reports UkrAgroConsult.

Kazakhstan exported 23% less barley in the four months of the current season compared to the same period a year ago (355.6 KMT against 461.3 KMT in September-December 2015/16).

Traditionally, Iran remains the top destination market for Kazakh barley: its export share reaches 90%.

As a reminder, Kazakhstan’s total barley harvest in net weight was 3.2 MMT in 2016, or 18.5% more than in 2015.
