Barley exports from Ukraine to decrease 15%


According to preliminary information of market participants, 815 KMT of barley was exported from Ukraine in the first month of the 2017/18 season, or 19.4% less than in July 2016, reports UkrAgroConsult.

Traditionally, the key end market for Ukrainian barley is Saudi Arabia, which purchased some 300 KMT in July. China also actively imported barley from Ukraine. 176 KMT of the Ukrainian product was supplied to this market during the month under review. This was the largest volume shipped to China since August 2015. In addition, Ukraine briskly exported barley to Jordan (104.5 KMT in July). The European Union is still the fourth top importer of Ukrainian barley.

The barley harvest in Ukraine was totally complete. The crop in bunker weight amounted to 8.6 MMT, or 12% less than last year.
