Barley stocks in Ukraine down 28%

According to the State Statistics Service, grain and pulse inventories in Ukraine totaled 24.23 MMT as of November 1, 2017, or 10.6% less than at the same time last year (27.11 MMT), reports UkrAgroConsult.

Wheat stocks as of the reporting date were down 4.2% year-on-year at 11.62 MMT against 12.13 MMT as of November 1, 2016. Barley stocks were down 28.3% year-on-year at some 1.98 MMT (2.76 MMT was in November 2016).

Corn inventories are also lower than last year. They totaled 9.23 MMT as of the reporting date, or 12.4% less than last year (10.54 MMT).

The decrease in grain inventories stems primarily from some crop downturn this year. In addition, barley and wheat exports were quite active in the first third of the season, unlike corn shipments.
