Belarus. Brief cold-spell poses no threat to winter grains

According to the latest information, the soil in most of the country is either thawed or slightly frozen at its top layer. As of February 18-20, just single weather stations reported the depth of soil freezing at 10-22 cm, even at up to 35 cm in the northern east.
The soil temperature at the depth of winter grains’ tillering node is still above optimum. Ice crust is observed on the ground in the fields.
Despite the absence of snow in many areas, the brief cold-spell poses no threat to winter grains. There are some concerns about winter rape in snow-free areas, reports UkrAgroConsult.
