Belarus. Crops develop with a delay

This year’s large-scale planting of corn progressed with a lag behind last year. Variable temperatures in May and the first half of June hindered corn development. The amount of accumulated effective heat is smaller than last year. According to the latest observations, leaf formation continues in corn plants: each of them currently has on average 5-7 leaves in most of surveyed fields, even nine leaves in some southern areas, reports UkrAgroConsult.

Visual assessments of crop condition are primarily good, though they are fair in Vitebsk region. In many parts of Gomel region, the south-east of Minsk region and the east of Brest region, corn plantings were damaged by frost events that occurred from June 1-10. Heat supply of corn will somewhat improve shortly.
