Belarus. Farmers started harvesting winter barley
Spring cereals are already at the heading stage almost all over Belarus. Barley plants are at milk ripeness and early grain filling. The density of productive tillers is close to last year’s rate in most fields under observation.
Grain filling is in progress in key areas of winter crops; wheat is entering the wax ripeness stage. As before, winter crops develop one and a half or two weeks ahead of last year, reports UkrAgroConsult.
Recent rain in many parts of Belarus improved conditions for grain formation and filling, as well as growth of corn plants. However, a soil moisture deficit persists in areas where precipitation was scarce (the west of the country).
In view of good heat supply, corn crops grow and develop at a faster pace than last year. Silking has begun in some fields.
Rain expected in early July must improve moisture supply to crops, including those in areas with insufficient moisture levels.
Farmers in Belarus have started harvesting winter barley. They have already harvested 18.2 KMT of its grain from 6.2 Th ha with an average yield of 2.94 MT/ha.
