Belarus. Hardening processes will continue in winter crops

The agrometeorological conditions developed satisfactorily for winter crops to enter dormancy. The soil temperature at the tillering node depth of winter cereals is close to 0°С. In most areas, soil moisture content available to winter crops appeared to be above the long-term average in the late fall. The soil moisture oversupply reduces hardiness of plants that may impede their wintering.

According to the latest observations, most of Belarus is covered with snow. Its height ranges mostly from 1-5 cm to 6-10 cm, even reaching 11-14 cm in some parts of the eastern half of Belarus.

No low temperatures able to pose a threat to winter crops are expected in the near future. Hardening processes will continue in plants, reports UkrAgroConsult.
