Belarus. Pace of corn harvesting is 28% behind last year

According to the latest observations, winter cereals planted before mid-September are at the tillering stage. Crops of later planting dates are at the emergence and three-leaf stages. Grain crops are well supplied with moisture. In Vitebsk region and some western and eastern parts of the country the topsoil is even too wet after rainfalls. Belarusian farmers continue harvesting corn for grain and silage, reports UkrAgroConsult.

According to current information of the Ag Ministry, corn was harvested from 62.3 Th ha by October 23 (48.1% of the plan). Its crop amounted to 493.8 KMT with an average yield of 7.93 MT/ha. The harvest lags far behind last year.

At the same time in 2016, corn was harvested from 86.4 Th ha (67.8%) with a crop of 716.3 KMT and an average yield of 8.29 MT/ha.
