Belarus. Partial winterkill of winter rapeseed is possible in the north-west of the country

According to UkrAgroConsult, the soil freeze depth in most of Belarus varies from 5 cm to 15 cm. It increased to 20-30 cm in isolated areas in the northern half of the country and in the south-west.

Due to available snow cover and insignificant soil freezing, temperatures at the tillering node depth of winter cereals did not fall to dangerous levels. Winter rape – the least frost-resistant crop – is not going to get damaged in most fields either. At the same time, due to uneven snow distribution, the land is snowless in some fields in the north-west of the country. Partial winterkill of winter rape is possible there.

Abating of frosts will shortly result in fair conditions for the survival of winter crops.
