Belarus. Planting of winter cereals lags 17% behind last year

According to current information of the Ag Ministry of Belarus, winter cereals were sown on 585.8 Th ha by September 20 (45.9% of the plan). Their planting lags 17.4% behind last year. 709.2 Th ha (52.7%) was planted to winter cereals by the same date in 2016, reports UkrAgroConsult.

Noteworthy is that the Ag Ministry of Belarus expects this year’s winter cereal plantings to shrink by 5% to 1276 Th ha.

Farmers in Gomel, Brest, Minsk regions of Belarus started harvesting corn for grain. As of September 20, they harvested 21.1 KMT of corn from 2.73 Th ha (1.75%) with an average yield of 7.74 MT/ha. 74.9 KMT of corn was harvested by the same date last year from 11.7 Th ha (6.61%) with an average yield of 6.39 MT/ha.
