Belarus. Planting of winter crops entering its final phase


According to current information of the Ag Ministry of Belarus, winter cereals were sown on 1152 Th ha by October 02 (90.3% of the plan). Their planting lags 9% behind last year. 1266.2 Th ha (96.1%) was planted to winter cereals by the same date in 2016. Noteworthy is that the Ag Ministry of Belarus expects this year’s winter cereal plantings to shrink by 5% to 1276 Th ha, reports UkrAgroConsult.

As of October 02, farmers harvested 112.8 KMT of corn from 15.2 Th ha (11.7%) with an average yield of 7.43 MT/ha. 259.6 KMT of corn was harvested by the same date last year from 34 Th ha (19.2%) with an average yield of 7.63 MT/ha.
