Black Sea region: demand for large grain lots transportation remains high

In the Black Sea basin increased demand for new crop grain transportation by large lots became the major driver of freight rates growth. Many of tonnage lease deals for grain transportation are made for delivery to Asia. Moreover, some slight recovery was noted in direction of Middle East and North Africa after end of Ramadan.

According to Rufco Company, in the Azov Sea basin the tendency of gradual freight rates increase continues. However, the current growth still does not meet expectations of ship owners. Market operators note that the market remains volatile in the region, rates differ considerably, and the range may reach up to USD 3/MT on the same routes.
