Brazil sets new record for April’s soybean exports

Brazil exports of the soybean complex (grain, oil, fuel, meal) summed 11.9 million metric tons in April or US$ 4.54 billion. In comparison with the same period of 2016, there was an increase of 2.9 percent in volume, 12.6 percent in revenue and it is a new record. The data is from the Ministry of Industry, Foreign Trade and Services.

One of the reasons for the increase is that the Brazilian soybean harvest started earlier this year. Yet, the result is viewed as very good because some farmers are restringing sales because of the prices. In the year, the exports summed 28 million metric tons or US$ 11.2 billion, which is higher than 2016.
