04.08.2017

The new 2017/18 season is expected to see an increase in oilseed planted acreage, up to a record size, thanks to high profitability of sunseed production, steady importer demand for oilseed products, and the needs of Bulgaria’s agriculture, particularly its animal sector. According to UkrAgroConsult’s estimates, the country’s oilseed plantings will expand to 1042 Th ha (up 3.4% from MY 2016/17) due to gains in sunflower and rape sowings to 840 Th ha (+2.4%) and 187 Th ha (+8.6%), respectively. Soybean cultivation in the 2017/18 season will remain at last year’s level of 15 Th ha.
