Bulgaria. Large wheat supply pressured domestic and export prices

During last week mixed price trends were seen on domestic grain market of Bulgaria. Thus, decrease in purchasing prices for both milling and feed wheat was observed due to the large supply of wheat on the domestic market. According to preliminary data of the Bulgarian Ministry of Agriculture, wheat crop reached 5640 KMT, surpassing the record of 2013. In the export market Bulgarian milling wheat price with 11.5% protein decreased during the week by USD 2/MT - to a more competitive level in the Black Sea region.

Strengthening of domestic prices was noted in barley and corn markets. Barley supply in the domestic market has decreased significantly, which supported the seller prices during the reporting week.

Domestic prices for corn were also on a rise due to limited corn supply. In some regions of the country new crop trading became more active. Slowdown in corn harvesting changed into the faster pace, but the first yields are somewhat lower than in 2015.
