Bulgaria. Sunseed yield is 13.2% higher than in 2017


Domestic rapeseed prices have been stable for a second consecutive week due to a slowdown in purchasing activity. The execution of previously signed contracts continues, reports UkrAgroConsult.

Rapeseed price closed the week unchanged at BGN 680/MT that is equivalent to USD 404/MT (down USD 5/MT under the influence of the currency factor.

Planting of winter rape is 11.2% behind last year. Its planted area was already 675.8 Th ha as of September 20 against 600.1 Th ha a year ago.

Prices in the sunseed market continue falling. As before, the main bearish factor is the progressing harvest. Although this work is 14% behind last year, yield is 13.2% higher than in 2017.

According to the Ag Ministry of Bulgaria, sunseed had been harvested from 597.6 Th ha by September 20 (81% of its forecast area of 734.7 Th ha). The oilseed crop amounted to 1542.8 KMT with a yield of 2.58 MT/ha. Sunseed shipments to foreign markets remained at a minimum level.
