Bulgaria. Winter sowing campaign lags behind last year


According to current information of Bulgaria’s Ag Ministry, corn was harvested from 347.8 Th ha by October 12 (83% of the planned 418.2 Th ha). Its crop amounted to 2021.6 KMT with an average yield of 5.81 MT/ha that is up 9.2% year-on-year. The harvest progress lags 4% behind last year, reports UkrAgroConsult.

Farmers have started sowing winter cereals almost all across Bulgaria. As of the reporting date, winter wheat in Bulgaria was planted on 399.3 Th ha (down 2.4% from last year), winter barley on some 41.5 Th ha (down 22.6%) and rye on 4.1 Th ha (up 245.8%).
