Bulgarian barley to hit a new abysmal low

Bulgaria exports wheat at a record pace this season. The reason is its all-time high production in the country in 2017.

According to the Agriculture Ministry of Bulgaria, a record volume of wheat had been exported by the beginning of May that was already 2% more than in the whole of last season.

According to UkrAgroConsult’s analysts, wheat exports from Bulgaria may reach an all-time high in MY 2017/18. There is no more doubt that this export potential is feasible.

Regarding the 2018/19 outlook for the Bulgarian grain market, the downward trend in Bulgarian barley plantings and production will continue. The seeded area of winter barley in the country decreased another 11% in favor of winter wheat.

Thus, according to UkrAgroConsult’s estimates, the crop will decrease to an 11-year low.
