Cargo traffic within Azov-Don Basin of Russia’s IWW climbed by 4% to 6.20 mln t in 8M’16


As of September 1, 2016 , cargo traffic within the Azov-Don Basin of Russia’s inland water ways climbed by 4%, year-on-year, to 6,207,000 t, says the Administration of Azov-Don Basin.

In the reported period, transportation of heavy fuel oil fell by 8.8% to 1,954,000 t, sulphur – up 19% to 1,002,000 t, diesel fuel – up 27% to 843,000.

The number of vessel movements declined by 7.6%, year-on-year, to 3,889 t.

In August, cargo traffic climbed by 34.7%to 1,523,000 t. Transit climbed by 26% to 1,187,000 t, internal turnover – by 77.8% to 336,000 t.34.7%, year-on-year, to 1,479,000 t. Transit fell by 3.5% to 1,205,000 t, internal turnover grew by 9.6% to 274,000 t.

In August, Azov-Don Basin Authority registered 888 vessels including 436 sailing downward and 452 – upward (versus 967 in 2015: 510 sailing downward and 457 upward).

The growth of cargo traffic is attributed to more favorable weather conditions as compared with those of August 2015.

The depth in August, at the section from the entrance to the 132-th channel to Kochetovsky waterworks was 375 to 400 cm, from Kochetovsky to the 3121-th km stretch of the Don – 400 cm.

The total length of the waterways in the area of responsibility the Azov-Don Basin Administration is 691.3 kilometers.
