CBOT corn prices decreased 1.25% last week

During the reporting week (January 04 - 11), CBOT corn prices decreased 1.25%, reports UkrAgroConsult.

Expectations of January USDA WASDE report, as well as the report on quarterly grain stocks in the USA as of end-December, were the main bearish drivers last week.

Over the first week of the new year (December 28 - January 04), corn contracting was 27% below the level of the same week last season (437.745 KMT). In fact, from the beginning of the marketing year to January 04, the shipments are 32% lower than the previous season (11.548 MMT). corn cme

The price decrease was limited by expectations of Brazilian and Argentinean corn production estimate reduction in the 2017/18 season, amid the smaller acreage due to its low prices.
