CBOT corn prices strengthened by 0.6% supported by currency and weather factors

20.02.2018

During February 08-15, CBOT corn prices strengthened by 0.55%, reports UkrAgroConsult.

In the export market, the US corn prices gained USD 2/MT FOB, while Argentinean corn supply prices went up USD 1/MT (February delivery).

The lack of rainfall in Argentina, as well as depreciation of the US dollar against other world currencies also supported corn prices last week.

Moreover, market operators noted an increase in the US corn exports, which was confirmed by the updated USDA estimates. Within February 01-08, 1974.5 KMT of corn were contracted (+12% compared to the previous week, and +152% in comparison with volume during the same week last season).
