CBOT wheat prices decreased only slightly, despite of massive harvesting

During the reporting week (July 14-21) CBOT wheat prices decreased only slightly (-0.95%), despite a considerable pressure of the seasonal factor – harvesting in the USA, EU and Black Sea region. In the USA harvesting pace is ahead of the last year's – 76% against 72%, while the five-year average is 73%, resulting in a downward price response observed in the market.

Low yields of French wheat provoked further growth of its export prices. Besides, a 50% increase in export contracting of US wheat over July 7-14 was another bullish factor in the futures market. Since the beginning of the current season and until July 14, US wheat contracting was 27% higher than during the same period last season.
