CBOT wheat prices strengthened by 3% last week

During the reporting week (August 31 - September 07), CBOT wheat prices strengthened by 2.48%. The US wheat spot prices gained USD 1/MT, French wheat quotations increased by USD 2/MT, while the Black Sea wheat prices increased USD 1-2/MT, reports UkrAgroConsult.

Due to a short working week, the USDA report on export sales is somewhat delayed. Estimates of analysts about weekly export sales ranged between USD 350-550 KMT. According to expectations, the delay in wheat supplies will last for another several days, due to flooded tracks and closed ports in Texas, triggered by the hurricane Harvey. During the period under review, the volume of railroad grain shipping fell by 25.6%.

The US farmers continued spring wheat harvesting at a high pace. Spring wheat was gathered from 89% of the acreage compared to the five-year average at 78%.
