China absorbed 25% of total oilseed exports from Kazakhstan


According to the Customs Control Committee of the Finance Ministry of Kazakhstan, September’s oilseed exports from the country totaled a record 45.7 KMT, or 1.8 times more than a year ago.

This month, the top importer was China, which received 11.6 KMT, or 25% of total oilseed exports from Kazakhstan, reports UkrAgroConsult.

Linseed accounted for 43% (19.8 KMT) of September’s exports, while sunseed represented 20% (9.2 KMT).

The top buyers of Kazakh linseed were Afghanistan and Belgium. The bulk of Kazakh sunseed exports went to Uzbekistan and China.

In addition, oilseed plantings in Kazakhstan were reportedly increased by more than 20% this year, to 2.482 Ml ha. In particular, sunflower was planted on 902.2 Th ha (+7%) and flax on 869.7 Th ha (+34%).

According to forecasts, the total crop of oilseeds may reach 2.2 MMT in 2017.
