China and UAE cut flour purchases from Ukraine


An upward trend has taken shape in Ukrainian flour exports. Ukraine shipped abroad 19 KMT of flour in October 2018/19, or 24.6% more than in the previous month. However, its exports were down 54.3% from October 2017, when 41.5 KMT was supplied to foreign markets, reports UkrAgroConsult.

Ukraine exported 66.5 KMT of flour in July-October 2018/19, or 58.1% less than in the same period last season (158.9 KMT). 

At the same time, flour production in Ukraine is just 13.6% behind last year. So, 1.3 MMT of flour was produced in January-October 2018 against 1.6 MMT in the same period in 2017.

During January-October, Ukraine reduced flour supplies to its traditional markets such as China (-69%), Israel (-13%), and the UAE (-75%) following an overall downward trend in exports. At the same time, the first four months of the current season witnessed substantial growth in Ukrainian flour shipments to Singapore, Lebanon and Palestine.
