China boosted sunflower oil imports from Russia


Russian shipments continued at a record pace during the first seven months of the current season, reports UkrAgroConsult. So, 1220 KMT of sunoil was supplied to foreign markets in September-March 2017/18 that is up 7% year-over-year.

Russia exported 170 KMT of sunoil in March 2017/18, i.e. 2% more than in the previous month (170 KMT) but down 31% from March 2017 (245 KMT).

Egypt was the top importer of Russian sunoil during the first seven months of the current season. This country purchased 35% more than in the same period in MY 2016/17. Turkey, remaining the second biggest importer, decreased its purchases by 39% to 247 KMT against 403.5 KMT in MY 2016/17.

China boosted imports, having already purchased 10% more sunoil than for the whole of MY 2016/17.

In addition, this season Russian sunoil exporters have started entering new markets such as Qatar, Togo, and Tanzania.
